It’s been a while since I wrote, however I haven’t had any news to tell you because I kept changing my mind about what my next Children’s Book would be about, and also because of the recurrent lockdowns caused by the ‘Virus that shall not be named’ hovering over us for the past two years, I kept losing my motivation. 🙁 (And besides, I promised that I won’t bombard you with constant updates unless I have something to say.)
I coped with the first 18 months of restrictions and confinements to the home during several Lockdowns, but by the middle of this year it was really getting me down.
Now, you’d think that while spending all that time confined to the house during repeated Lockdowns, that I would be catching up on all the things I wanted to do around the house and garden, and also write drafts for two or three new books…
Nuh! Nada!…Nope!
Oh, I made a few attempts, but I wasn’t really happy with my WIPs, so they would sit untouched for a few weeks/months, before being put in the ‘too hard, its not working’ basket.
I may drag them out again one day…or not. Watch this space.
Anyhoo, early this year I was chatting with my daughter about her new dog, when I had an ‘AH HAA!’ moment.
I got all teary and she looked at me with concern.
‘I know what my next book will be!’ I exclaimed excitedly.
She frowned in confusion…. Can you just imagine the scene? She was like a little Cocker Spaniel cocking it’s head from side to side with curiosity. (Nah, actually, she was very concerned about me…and curious)
And so, book number three is well on its way. The story is written and most of the illustrations are outlined and waiting to be painted.
And, ummmm, its about a girl and a dog… (in case you hadn’t picked up on that.)
My lovely mum is coming to my home for lunch on Christmas Day and my kids will pop over and see her before she returns to her room at the Aged Care facility, which she moved into last year – and luvs it! Then my kids will return later in the day and we’ll have a ginormous Christmas meal in the evening…after ripping open…I mean, distributing the Chrissy pressies under the tree.
I don’t know who enjoys it more: my children or me.
Yes I do…ME! I’m just a big kid at heart.
So, bless you all this Christmas and have a wonderful, safe and healthy 2022.
Merry Christmas,
Susan
